This Bulletin Board contains information about job opportunities and forthcoming Bureau closures/events
Bureau closures
Occasional closure
The Bureau will be closed from 12noon on Friday 12th December 2008.
Christmas and New Year closure
The Bureau will close at 4pm on Tuesday 23rd December 2008 and will re-open at 10am on Friday 2nd January 2009.
Seeing an Advisor - Monday to Friday
As the demand for our weekday service has become so great, we have introduced a system whereby clients who visit the Bureau are given an 'intake' time to return to obtain advice. This might be on the day the client comes in or it might be within a day or two. We are sorry that we have had to change the system but we feel this is the only fair way to manage demand.
Saturday morning advice service
Our Advice Service on Saturday mornings is by appointment only. The service is primarily for people who work full time or are full time carers and who live in the borough of Southend-on-Sea.
To book a Saturday appointment, please call in to the Bureau between 10am and 4pm, weekdays, or telephone 01702 456366 during the same hours (please note that advice is not given on this number).
Our Saturday appointments are oversubscribed so if you will not be able to attend, please let us know so we can offer the appointment to someone else. To cancel a Saturday appointment, please ring 01702 456366 between 10am and 4pm, weekdays, or between 10am and 12noon on Saturdays. Outside of these hours, please call or text to 07503490246 and leave a message cancelling your appointment.
Thank you for your co-operation.

Centenary Appeal
‘Please help us to continue to help others’
In June 2008, we will celebrate the centenary of the Guild of Help, another milestone for Southend CAB.
Southend CAB is an independent charity and has no guaranteed sources of funding, information that surprises many people, whether they have used our service or not. We provide a service that is free to our clients but our services are not free to deliver and our costs are increasing beyond our ability to finance them from existing resources and sources of funding.
Last year we helped over 18,400 people. We want to be able to continue to serve the community and build on the achievements of the last 100 years and to do this we need to raise additional funds.
To help us do this, we launched our Centenary Appeal at our AGM on 10th October.
You can help us in a number of ways:
q Making a ‘pledge for a post’ – an ongoing contribution to the unfunded salary costs of key posts
q Becoming a member of Southend CAB – requires an annual subscription of a minimum of £5
q Making a one-off donation
For more information and/or to make a donation to the appeal, please call Trish Carpenter on 01702 456370 or write to Trish Carpenter, Southend CAB, 1 Church Road, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, SS1 2AL or email us at cab@southendcab.demon.co.uk
